Your Winnebago Council Camping Committee and Summer Camping
Management Team are excited to make a few announcements about the
summer camping programs during our 100th Anniversary of the Boy
Scouts of America.
To better reflect the objectives of the Scouting Promise of outdoor
adventures, the Boy Scout / Venturing programs at Ingawanis Adventure Base
will now be referred to as the “Ingawanis Adventure Base”.
Under the leadership of Camp Director - Justin Stoll, Program
Director – Ben Hobert and Camping Administrator – Steph Becker many
innovative programs and updates will be implemented.
A few of these innovations include the use of the “Block Schedule”
for merit badges / activities that will be listed in the new camp
leaders manual scheduled for distribution later in October. The
“Block Schedule” will be used to actually schedule Scouts for their
weekly program. There will be 5 – one hour & fifteen minute blocks
per day (with 15-minute passing periods) and repeated from Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. This will allow older-camp experienced
Scouts to work on 5-6 merit badges.
Wednesday will be special programs day with a few merit badges
offered that take very little time to accomplish as well as some
great camp-wide competitions. Wednesday will also allow for Order of
the Arrow candidates to not miss out on any merit badge time.
The traditional troop campsite cookout will occur on Wednesday
evening rather than Tuesday to not have to rush prior to the O.A.
Call-Out Ceremony.
The Camp Management Team is looking for staff members – the Best of
the Best for our 100th Anniversary Year of Boy Scout Summer Camping.
Check the website for an up-to-date Staff Application and apply
soon. Our goal is to have a full-staff in place for the Ingawanis
Adventure Base and Winnebago Scout Reservation before Christmas. The
application lists the dates of employment for both camp staffs.
Another special event will be the 100th Anniversary Birthday parties
during each week of camp at the Ingawanis Adventure Base and each
weekend at the Winnebago Scout Reservation.
Look for more tidbits of camp information over the next several
weeks. Sign-up for camp soon --- don’t miss out on the Fun of 2010
at your Winnebago Council Camps.
