The Friends of Scouting campaign makes up almost 25% of our Winnebago Council's annual budget. These monies are vital to deliver the program to our Scouts.

Purpose of the Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth.

Outcomes

Scouting teaches skills that prepare young people for a lifetime of ethical leadership.

What Should I Give?

You can spread your pledge over the year with the convenient pledge card. Your contribution of less than 50 cents a day amounts to a tax deductible donation of $180 and will support one youth in the Scouting program for one year. Can you support the cost of one, two or more youth? Contributions of any amount are welcome and appreciated. The dollars that you give to Scouting are multiplied in effectiveness because of the high degree of volunteer involvement. If you prefer, your pledge can be paid in monthly, quarterly or semi-annual installment.

Endowments

The James E. West Fellowship Award

The James E. West Fellowship Award is a National recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to the Winnebago Council’s endowment trust fund. Organizations or individuals may contribute an award in honor of someone - an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver recipient, council president, or district chairman, or in memory of a departed loved one, business associate or special Scouter. We salute a James E. West Fellows for perpetuating Scouting’s future through their generosity.

The 1910 Society

The 1910 Society was named in recognition of the year when the visionary early leaders founded the Boy Scouts of America, which was patterned after a fledgling - but popular - Scouting program developed in England by Sir Baden-Powell. Individuals or organizations that contribute $25,000 or more to the Winnebago Council's endowment fund are honored in this prestigious group. Members receive a leather-bound edition of the Boy Scout Handbook, distinctive pin, and framed certificate. We salute Winnebago Council's 1910 Society members for perpetuating Scouting's future through their generosity.

The Founders Circle

The Founders Circle is intended to recognize deferred gifts designated for the Winnebago Council endowment fund. With deferred giving so widely and effectively used by so many donors, the Boy Scouts of America wants to recognize the importance of such major gifts. Donors are recognized for gift commitments with a minimum value of $100,000.

To set up your endowment or should you have any questions, please call Todd Wordel, Scout Executive at the Winnebago Council office, 319-234-2867 or e-mail Todd Wordel .
