We can’t wait for you to get to the 2010 Jamboree and have one of
the best experiences of your life!
Jambo Rocks!
To help you attend the National Jamboree, you have
three years to sell
popcorn,
magazines,
candles and
candy. The Winnebago Council is giving up its
popcorn commission to you, the scout, so you can earn your way to
Jamboree. That means 60% of your popcorn and magazine sales go into
your Jamboree account. For candy and candles, you can earn 45% in
commissions.
For example, if you sell $1,000 worth of popcorn and magazines, your
Jamboree account will show $600 in it. Do that for three years and
you’ll have earned $1,800 towards Jamboree.
No matter what product you are selling for Jamboree, remember to
write Jamboree Troop on the top of your sheet to make sure you get
credit for it.
Remember, Jamboree product sales do not qualify a scout for any
prizes or free admissions to Council events. This money is also not
refundable to the scout should he have to cancel going to the
Jamboree.
If you have any other questions, please contact us at any time. We
will try to get you the information as soon as we can.

Candy sales are another way to earn money for the National
Jamboree in 2010. Your commission will be 45% of total sales.
Jamboree scouts will be selling candy at a different time than the
troops. Please fill out the Jambo Scout candy form with the quantity
of candy you want. Get this information to the scout office BY
FEBRUARY 29.
The candy will be ordered and you will be contacted when it comes
in. We’ll all make arrangements for delivery to you.
If you have questions, contact Kathy Calhoun, who will be the candy
chair. Her number is (319)277-8357 or e-mail her at
flamingo@cfu.net.
Remember, partial cases of candy are not returnable. Candy money for
all candy products ordered must be in the Council Office by March
31, 2008. There will be fees for late payments. Your commission will
then be calculated and added to your Jamboree account.
Popcorn sales for 2007 are complete. Watch this space in the fall of 2008 for information on 2008 popcorn sales. Following is general popcorn information for you to consider.
Your Jamboree Scout has the option of selling popcorn with his
regular Troop or Pack and the Jamboree. There are pros and cons of
both.
• You will sell through your Troop or Pack popcorn kernel.
• You will get the same commission as everyone else in your Troop or
Pack, which is estimated between 20% to 30% of sales.
• You can use your commission any way you like, for summer camp,
uniforms, etc.
• You are eligible for all Pack/Troop prizes awarded during the
sale.
• You can use either the Show and Deliver or the Take Order sales
methods.
• You will sell through one of the Jamboree Popcorn
chairs/kernels.
• Your commission will be 60% of sales, which is at least double the
amount you would receive selling through your regular Troop or Pack.
• Your commission is kept by the Scout Office and applied to your
Jamboree fees and other Jamboree costs such as equipment, uniforms,
transportation, etc.
• You will not earn prizes for selling popcorn or magazines.
• You will use only the Take Order method of sales.
• If your scout chooses not to attend the 2010 Jamboree, popcorn
dollars are not eligible for refund or transfer.
Notify your Jamboree Popcorn Kernel/Chair that you are selling
popcorn through the Jamboree. If we do not hear from you, we will
assume you are either selling through your Troop or Pack or not
selling at all.
Please communicate your popcorn sales to your Jamboree Kernel/Chair
either by letter or e-mail. They will tell you what they need.
Popcorn pickup will be at your Kernel’s home address unless you are
informed otherwise.
YYour primary contact should be your Jamboree Popcorn Kernel/Chair.
If you have other questions or can not contact your Kernel, you can
call or e-mail: Walt Senchina (319)277-6499 or
was@cfu.net
Don’t forget you can sell magazines too, and earn 60% commission.
To get a magazine voucher, you will need to contact your Jamboree
Kernel/Chair for a voucher. They come in $10 and $20 denominations.
These vouchers are like money and you will need to sign out these.
Can I sell for both my Pack/Troop and the Jamboree?
Yes, you can. You will need to keep one popcorn sheet for your
Pack/Troop and turn it into your unit Kernel and keep a sheet for
Jamboree and turn it into your Jamboree Kernel/Chair.
