WSR Pirate Ship - Mason City Packs 9, 12, 2, and 401 participated in the North Iowa Band Festival Parade in Mason City last spring.  The pirate ship float was built by Brad Pitman of Pack 9 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Winnebago Scout Reservation.  Scouts from all around the council were able to enjoy the pirate ship this past summer as it “floated” on the parade field at WSR.  A big Thank-You goes to Julie and Brad Pitman for organizing the Band Festival event with the scouts!

Hi everyone!  I've had several opportunities come up for scouts and want to fill
you in!   First, there will be a Great River City Festival in Mason City, Sat.
Sept. 20th.  This will be downtown, Central Park and there will be a
reenactment of the Dillinger Bank Robbery.  They are working to make this a
"green" festival and would love to have some scouts there to work on a compost
project (with Renee from the Landfill) and also could probably help picking up
liter, etc......If you are interested in this, please contact Mary Sue at
641-430-6025.  She can give you more information about the project, times, etc.

2nd, Renee, again, from the Landfill, called and they are looking for an older
scout, possibly an Eagle Scout, to make a training video for the Landfill.  It
seems that often they give tours, etc, to different groups.........and if the
weather is bad and they can't get outside, they want to have a "video-tour"
available.  If you're interested, or have a scout that might be interested,
please contact Renee at the Landfill of North Iowa 641-357-5452

And finally, the Nora Springs Care Center has an Eagle Scout project available.
They are looking for someone to build a purgalla (sp??)  They'll cover the
expenses.  Call LeAnn Weaver at 641-749-5331.

Hope some of you will be interested!  Have fun!

 Thanks!  -Carol
